England’s cricket captain Andrew Strauss says his team can draw on previous success to bounce back from their inning and 12 run defeat to South Africa.
Series wins over Australia, India and the West Indies helped the English team to the top of the world test rankings but their position is under threat from the South Africans.
Straus says their bowling attack has taken 20 wickets in almost every game during the last 2 years and a game shouldn’t dent their confidence too much.
However, former South African cricketer Fanny de Villiers says he can’t see how England will win the series after this defeat
“… They need to win the test series because that’s what they want to do to prove that they are number one in the world. They’ve got the weather against them, they’ve got the loss they just experienced against them, which is a hell of a psychological barrier, they were humiliated in the first innings and first match; and that’s sad, because we have played against Australia for many years, trying to top them from number one, and we never ever experienced a game where we just ran over it, cause when you’re number one in the world, surely no one should just demolish you in a test match,”
